This is a Japanese WW II Army officer`s sword in combat mountings. The blade is signed "Yoshifusa 義房", dated "Showa Juhachi-nen San-gatsu 昭和十八年三月(March, 1943), shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll era made blade. The blade is in old polish, shows tiny scratches on surface but no stain, no rust and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome temper pattern throughout the blade and has o-maru temper at the point. The forging grain is tight itame-hada and no forging flaws at all. There is no bend, no nicks, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is leather covered wood scabbard with hunger, shows aged stains but no crack and in good condition. The handle shows aged wear but tight fit, tsuka-ito wrappingis is no cut, no loose also in good condition. The blade measures 27+1/2" cutting edge , 1+3/16" width, 7mm thickness at the notch and 42+1/4" in mountings. Shipping is $20 priority in U.S. Paypal payment due within 3 days auction end.
