This is Japanese WW II army officer's sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Maekawa Kanetsugu tsukuru kore" and t is seki é-¢ arsenal stamp on the tang. Kanetsugu made swords during WWII period as a arsenal sword smith in Gifu prefecture. The blade is in old polish and has minor stain and light scratch on surface from the age but in good condition. The temperline are wavy gunome temper with togariba pattern throughout the blade and has o-maru temper at the point. The forging grain is very tight muji-hada forging. T is no bend, no nicks, no forging flaws, no crack temper and the cutting edge is sharp. The blade is beefy and healthy condition. The scabbard is leather covered, shows aged wear but no cut, no dents and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, the wrapping is no stain and no loose. It has company grade sword tassel which is little worn out. The lock mechanism works fine. It measures 24 3/4" cutting edge, 25 5/8" tip to the guard, 1 1/4" width at the notch and 39 1/2" in mountings. Shipping is $20 priority in U.S and $45 overseas via express mail.
