This is a Japanese NCO sword with a rare side lock scabbard. According to Fuller and Gregory these are quite rare. The blade and saya match serial numbers. The saya is is excellent conditon. The sword blade is bright with the usual staining in areas and scuffs of a war sword. The cutting edge has no nicks or dings. The small retaining nut that holds the screw on the handle is missing as photographed. This is a nice overall war sword as most NCO's I see are in poor condition. I was told by a collector these sidelock NCO swords are valuable to sword collectors...we will see. Please ask any questions this is sold as is and with no reserve.
