This magnificent hard-to-find "Papyrus" design is one of Jean Puiforcat's most beautiful and most sought after. Puiforcat was at the forefront of Art Deco design and is known to have created the finest French silver made in the early part of the last century. This set is comprised of fifty-nine solid sterling (925) spoons and forks of exquisite proportion and weight. Twelve large spoons: 8 1/4" long, twelve large forks: 8 1/8" long, twelve medium spoons: 6 3/4" long, twelve small forks: 6 1/2" long and eleven teaspoons: 4 3/4" long. This was the flatware used daily by an aristocratic family for over sixty years and the patina created over this period of time has only enhanced it's beauty. T are minor scratches and wear commensurate with age, minor wear on some of the fork tines and a few of the tines are not perfectly straight. The overall beauty of the design is remarkable. I do not have a very accurate scale, but this set of solid sterling 925 silver weighs about six pounds! I have polished a few of the pieces and the result is nothing short of stunning. I believe the pattern is still made and new matching knives are available on the internet. This auction is for 35 spoons and 24 forks only.
