JEAN SADLER “VIOLETS” PORCELAIN PLAQUE. Completely hand painted original workof floral art, signed: 'SADLER' by the well-known 20th Century American porcelain artist: Jean Sadler. Hand painted, signed Jean Sadler “Violets” porcelain plaque tile. As you know, Jean Sadler is one of the master 20 th century porcelain artists. I purchased this from Jean at her home in California many years ago. If you know of Jean, you know that even above her fame as one of the greatest porcelain painters and instructors, she is one of the greatest people you will meet. This is one of four Sadler works that I have the pleasure of owning. She said that she was thinking about using this Violets Plaque for a book that she was going to publish. She decided against writing the book, so she sold it to me. It is 8 ¼” in x 10 ¼” and a little over 1/4 in thick. Porcelain will be well wrapped, packed and boxed, insured and shipped via FedEx or UPS. Paypal or check ok, shipping USA and Canada $15, outside USA email for shipping cost. Jean Sadler has been a leading member of the world's porcelain art community since the 1950s, when she almost single-handedly began to encourage a great revival of the art of painting on porcelain, which had abruptly faded away throughout the world immediately after World War I, when European porcelain factories had been bombed and destroyed in the War. Sadler is the author of several books on the fine art of Porcelain Painting, and has spent over 40 years traveling the world and teaching the art, always creating new designs and never painting works for sale directly to the public, which makes this painting exceedingly rare. For many years Sadler has studied the works of the great old masters of the porcelain art form, such as Franz Bischoff, Franz Aulich and George Leykauf, and her work shows a deep understanding of, appreciation for, and masterful interpretation of these old master's naturalistic style of china painting. While certain other 20th Century art teachers often digressed far away from the great classic examples of porcelain painting provided by these old master china painters, Sadler's own genius recognized the old masters' genius' and she greatly encouraged their 'old style' of china painting. Without her guidance much of the knowledge of the old master professors Bischoff, Aulich and Leykauf would have been lost forever. While numerous modern teachers have pioneered their own experimental forms of painting on porcelain, Sadler has cherished and exemplified the handpainted works on Limoges of the old masters. Original signed masterpieces by SADLER will become the Bischoff's, Aulich's and Leykauf's of the next century. Sadler will be long remembered for her artistic genius, her perseverance, her great contributions to china painting and for the very kind person and dear friend she has been to so many in the 20th Century art world.
