JEMEZ PUEBLO POTTERY BOWL BY AWARD WINNING ARTISAN: CHRISTINE TOSA This eye catching piece was created by Jemez Pueblo potter Christine Tosa. The bowl measures just under 5.5" width diamter x about 4" tall. The opening at the top measures about 3.25" diameter and the base measures 2" diameter. The piece is hand coiled with clay from the grounds of the Jemez Pueblo of New Mexico and was fired outdoors as is traditional. The artist uses all natural slips and hand paints very traditional designs and symbols. This piece features a smooth stone polish. This piece is in excellent condition without any chips or cracks. Christine Tosa was born into the Jemez Pueblo in 1950 and has been an active potter since 1962. She is the daughter of Anacita Chinana. She learned from her mother-in-law Persingular Tosa. Christine is the mother of Maxine Yepa, Jennifer Andrew, and Anasita Chinana. Christine's work is included in "Southern Pueblo Pottery: 2000 Artist Biographies" by Dr. Gregory Shaaf. FREE SHIPPING!
