Blue Lodge The Southern Band Of Brothers Masonic Ring This ring was requested by the Sons Of The Confederacy who provided me with the information about the design. I am a Southern Brother who transplanted by Uncle Sam to the South over 30 years ago. The Southern Pride is not related to discrimination, but rather to being proud of the Southern Heritage historically. Many Brother's in my Lodge are die hard Southern folk whose roots go way, way back. I have been in Texas for most of my life and love it I also love from whence I came, the snow capital of the world, Buffalo, New York. This ring to me expresses the pride I see that still holds true in the South by all Southern folks. I hope you like this new ring. Remember, this is called the "Southern Band of Brothers" DEO VINDICE "Deo Vindice" officially means "God as our Defender" and was on the Great Seal of the Confederacy. It more correctly translates to "God will protect/deliver us." WE ARE A BAND OF BROTHERS "We are a band of brothers" refers to the first line of the popular Confederate song "Bonnie Blue Flag" which describes the Confederates in t hese words: We are a band of brothers and native to the soil, fighting for the property we earned with honest toil and when our rights were threatened a cry rose near and far Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star Hurrah, hurrah for Southern Rights hurrah Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star. The Bonnie Blue Flag is a navy blue flag with one large white star. Each star on the blue field of the US flag represents a single state shown together as the United States. An all blue flag with one star tfore is a symbol of a single state or States Rights. SOUTHERN CROSS The Southern Cross as shown on the Confederate Battle flag is derived from the cross of St. Andrew. The same three colors of red, white and b lue make up that flag as in the U.S. flag and symbolize the same qualities of courage, purity and honor. The thirteen stars represent the thirteen states that were recognized as members of the Confederate States of America: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virgin ia THOSE INTERESTED IN THIS RING Members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans who are also Mason s Members of the Confederate Military Lodge of Research (chartered in Alabama) Southern Masons proud of their Southern Heritage CONFEDERATE MASONS Masonry was strongly represented in the ranks of the Confederacy.
