Offered for your consideration is an exceptional matched pair of vintage Jensen model C10PF 10 inch “Flexair” woofers that were original equipment in their TF-4 loudspeakers from 1964. As you probably know, Jensen was one of the largest domestic speaker manufacturers and a major supplier to the U.S speaker industry from the late 1930’s through the 1980’s. Based on the EIA source/date codes on the baskets’ flange, “220 420”, these long-throw bass drivers were made by Jensen (220) in the 20th week of 1964, and are notable as being some of the industry’s first ceramic-ferrite magnet drivers. Please see the large photos I’ve taken for your review, and then I’ll tell you more about these pristine woofers. These speakers are in excellent condition —the finest examples of this model I’ve ever seen. The cones are made from sturdy paper and are structurally flawless and the voice coil dustcaps are perfect as well. In addition, they have permanent textile surrounds, further strengthened by a factory poly coating. And, the black-coated steel baskets are also in great shape with no oxidation and the factory flange gaskets are nicely preserved as well (note the factory tape covering the gasket seams; a nice touch).
