LOT 43 Seller's Estimate: USD 500 - 700 Jeremy Sweet (American; 21st Century) Sailor Cut Away Vinyl print mounted on plywood This work is from a solo show at the John Waldron Arts Center Feb. 2013, titled "Cut Away". The exhibit included 30 life size mixed media pieces mounted on cut wood as well as a hand painted murals directly on the gallery walls. Each piece is inspired by traditional tattoo and military motifs and together create an allegory of a sailor's journey and the troubles he might have faced along the way. The title "Cut Away" references the physical cutting of materials as well as the symbolic cutting away when one is forced to leave what is comfortable and familiar. The line drawings reference a stencil that is placed on the skin before lining out a tattoo. 70" H x 23" W Condition Report: Shipping services are available.
