This is a monumental 50 by 96 inch oil on canvas by contemporary artist, Jerry Jordan entitled Ã,Â"Carmel MajestyÃ,Â". It features the pounding surf on the coast of Carmel, California. The painting was executed in 1992 and became part of a private collection in 1993. We have documentation of the original purchase. It is in a multi-level frame with cable for hanging. Framing for this oil was a $3,000 expense as verified by the artist. We also have photographs that may be forwarded to serious parties. Or, larger electronic images may be requested. Jerry Jordan is an accomplished artist originally from the Texas hill country but having spent a considerable amount of time living and working in Taos. He is considered an American Impressionist with a broad spectrum of subject matter. To quote the biographical information from the antiqueseller website: Ã,Â"The best of JordanÃ,Â's work plays with contrast: light and shadow, exaggerated and muted color, soft and angular contour, animate and inanimate detail. His compositional elements often take risks and establish subtle relationships.Ã,Â" These characteristics are represented in this particular oil which is beautifully framed. The painting was part of a private collection that included a number of Mr. JordanÃ,Â's paintings along with other artwork. The paintings were originally acquired from the Altermann & Morris Galleries in Dallas and Houston, the Magic Mountain Gallery in Taos. This painting was purchased from Magic Mountain Gallery in Taos in 1993 for $25,000. Current prices for Mr. Jordan's oils of this size are $30,000. Complete biographical information on Mr. Jordan and his painting is available in the archives of and at /jerryjordan/historytc1. html The latter site has an extensive variety of his paintings, most of which are now sold but you can see comparable retail prices on the unsold paintings here as well as through a Taos gallery which has some of his artwork represented on their website. Our paintings are shipped crated. The cost of crating is included in our price. The new owner will be responsible for shipping and insurance.
