Up for auction is an original, signed letter, dated March 6, 1939, from John Hix (Radio show host of "Strange as it Seems") to Jesse James' granddaughter, Miss Jo Frances James. In the letter, Hix references inaccurately reported information regarding the relationship of the Jameses, the Daltons and the Youngers, which Jesse James' granddaughter has corrected him on. Hix also asks Miss James about the dispute over whether or not Bob Ford, who shot and killed James, ever received the $10,000 reward offered for the capture of Jesse "dead or alive".
