Although this may look like a real gun and the action functions like the original, this item is classified as a "non-gun". It cannot fire any type of ammunition nor can it be modified to do so. This is a replica of an antique firearm, in this case a Remington 45 patented in the mid 1800's (i.e., a firearm developed prior to 1898). According to federal law (US Code Title 15, Section 5001), replicas of antique firearms developed prior to 1898 do not require an orange barrel plug or markings. However, to satisfy eBay and to remove any doubt, this replica gun has been fitted with an orange plug as shown in a photo. Now on with the Listing... This commemorative replica revolver is of the very same type used by both Frank and Jesse James, the 1875 Remington SA revolver. This is very nice display piece for its age, about 30 years. It is constructed of 45 precision components just like the real gun. As you can see from the photos, this item replicates the color case hardened steel frame, black walnut grips and blued steel barrel and cylinder of the gun owned by Jesse James.
