From an old Tucson estate comes this exquisite bevel glass and brass jewelry casket. I believe this box dates from the late 1800's and is French in origin. It stands aproximately 4 1/4" high and is almost 6" wide. The fabulous paw feet extend out to almost 7" across and are approximately 1 1/2" tall. The top has a 3/4" wide enamel and brass accenting band which surrounds the scalloped beveled glass top. Two of the corners features ornate escutcheons. My guess is that t were originally 4 escutcheons (1 in each corner). The hinge on the back is in good working order. The interior is tufted in silk. T is interior glass chipping as can be seen in the pictures, The right front corner appears to hang slightly lower and you can see the interior chips on the bevel glass panels. T is also a small interior chip to the top right corner of the box under the brass band. None of this detracts from the beauty of this piece. The enamel is in good overall condition, with only very minor loss. Scratching on the top is very minor and possibly may be buffed out by a professional. This piece displays well but could use a very careful cleaning around the brass
