This auction is for a Beautiful Vintage Hinged Jewelry Trinket Box with an inset Hand Painted Miniature Portrait on Ivory Signed Riviere. The box itself is not signed any w that I could find. It appears to be pressed brass. I tried a magnet on it & it does not stick. From what I can make out of the top design it includes what look like angels, nymphs, cherubs or putti's, flowers & also a lion's head. It has a soft padded velvet lining. This item was purchased at an estate sale on the shores of Lake Michigan. I was told that it dates to the mid to late 1800's. The box is about 3" across & 1 3/8" high. The inset is approx. 1 3/4". As can be seen in the pictures, it is very detailed and has a nice warm patina. It is in good used condition with slight wear.
