KENNEDY MEMORABILIA A BEAUTIFUL SET or GIFT... ONLY 1,000 OF THESE MEMORIAL CARDS EVER MADE. This is a piece of the actual black cambric material that was used to drape all the White House mantles, chandeliers, doorways on NOVEMBER 23, 1963 in the EAST ROOM of the WHITE HOUSE w President Kennedy's body laid in a flag-draped coffin after his tragic assassination. According to a 1963 LIFE Magazine, Mrs. Kennedy found a parallel to Lincoln's death to that of her husband and found a book in the White House library that described the Lincoln funeral in every detail...When Kennedy's body was returned to the White House, she directed that her husband lie in state in the East Room, even using a catafalque upon which the coffin would lie that was similar to Lincoln's...."She went directly t (The East Room) and as dawn brightened its windows on Saturday morning, she supervised the hushed-voice preparations for the catafalque and mourning drapes." We acquired a larger piece of this precious material from Todd Mueller Autograph Auctions (one of this country's most prestigious auction houses) & is accompanied by their Certificate of Authenticity plus a copy of the card signed by LAWRENCE J. ARATA, White House Upholsterer (from the Kennedy administration) that describes the cloth and how it was used as he helped Mrs. Kennedy that morning to hang this material in the East Room.....(We divided our larger piece into smaller, more affordable pieces for collectors under the supervision of UACC Regisetered Dealer #228...you also get a copy of how the original cloth was divided into smaller pieces.) And, Todd Mueller Auctions & Jack M. Sell are both REGISTERED DEALERS with UACC & members of APIC. We are also including a very RARE (Large Version) Original JFK mass card. (measures approximately 3.5"x 5")...this is reportedly one of the 1,000 cards used at the funeral with the picture that was originally chosen by Jacqueline Kennedy for the Mass at the National Cathedral. On the night of 11/22/63, Sanford Fox met with Jackie Kennedy to get her approval for funeral material he had been working on since news of Kennedy's death. He had designed the prayer card based on a picture JFK liked of himself. Mr. Fox had to get his friends at the CIA to print the ones she approved. The Government Printing office was closed. You are bidding on one of these very rare original mass cards used at the National Catherdal for the Mass of John F. Kennedy. T were only 1000 of these made. THESE CARDS ALONE SELL FOR AROUND $200 ON EBAY... This original mourning cloth & memorial card are beautifully displayed in a thick dark frame inside a glass dimensional case, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Todd Mueller Autographs and card from Mr. Arata authenticating the cloth artifact....We also include a COA authenticating the Rare Large Memorial JFK Card & a copy of the original Bill of Sale to give you good provenancel. You get an engraved plate mounted to the bottom of the frame describing this rare JFK artifact.
