After Jimi Hendrixâe(tm)s success from his 1967 album, Axis: Bold as Love , he went on a two month tour of the U.S. Playing 43 nights between February and March alone, Hendrix decided to only play about 18 gigs in the following four months. He and the Experience were in the studio for most of this time, recording their next album, Electric Ladyland . In between studio sessions, Hendrix played the White Plains Convention Center in New York with Soft Machine, who they had been touring with for most of the year. This poster, measuring 21 1/2âe x 36 1/2âe, is a hand-painted marquee poster on thick board. This poster was most likely made for and displayed in the front of the theatre to promote the upcoming show. It looks like t has been some restoration done to it to help preserve the one-of-a-kind piece. Certain areas of the painted lettering (original brush strokes are visible) have been restored. Within the blue background, some scuffing and restoration work can be seen. T are numerous pinholes in the top of the poster, but no w else. The top left corner shows some handling marks, while the other corners are in good shape. This hand-painted poster is the only one in existence and any imperfection takes nothing away from its attractiveness and rarity. The buyer receives a Certificate of Provenance with purchase upon request. ** read more
