JM Boswell Large 2004 pipe

This pipe was purchased as an estate several years ago and have never smoked it myself. After close inspection I “think” it is unsmoked. The original carbon bowl coating is in place, with no cake at all. The very bottom of the bowl has an area with spotty coating. The shank and airway appear to be virgin wood with no tobacco staining. I am by no means a pipe expert, so no guaranties you won’t have a different opinion.

As stated, I am not a pipe expert, but believe this can safely be called a fine example of a Flame Grain Boswell. A couple of the regular eBay pipe dealers would be screaming straight grain. It’s not perfect, there are a few sand pits on close inspection, but this is a large chunk of briar. This 2004 Boswell does not have the engraved Jumbo name, but feel certain that today the dimensions would qualify.

As a bonus and evidence of J.M. Boswell's skill, this full bent pipe will pass a pipe cleaner with just a twist. You may want to have some of churchwarden length on hand, it completely swallows one of standard length.

The pipe is darker than appears in some photos, still trying to figure out lighting that shows exact color and grain. The stem has no bite indentations, but does have some scuffs near the lip that should polish out. Someone’s hand must have slipped, this isn’t exactly a clincher.
