This is a very nice piece of mission ! It is a signed J M Young & Sons #204 umbrella stand from the early 1900's. It has it's original finish.........never been stripped, painted or overcoated. As best I can see, it's never had any damage or repair work performed to it, and I think most people would be surprised if not amazed at how solid and tight every single joint is on this piece. This stand still has it's original copper drip tray with sort of a hammered bumped up design effect around the edge........still all original, that is to say the patina is original, and it shows nicely. The copper tray has never been polished as far as I can tell. As you can see it the pictures, this stand still has it's original paper label. Please see photos from JM Young book. This stand measures 12" x 12" by 28" tall. People always rant about how nice the things are, that they have up for auction, (including myself sometimes) but I think most people who see this would have to agree, this is beyond a doubt one of the cleanest, straightest, most original undisturbed pieces of signed mission, arts & crafts furniture. To me it's hard to believe that after roughly 100 years the paper label survived as well as this one has. I really am going to be sorry to see this one go, but it's time to make space, clean things up, thin things out..............and besides this item really would be better off, being proudly displayed somew in a nice home, rather than in storage for who knows how many more years. I am sure this classic from the heart of the utilitarian arts & crafts period will not disappoint. Thank you for looking, if you have any other questions please ask.
