This is a very nice, " authentically " HAND SIGNED art exhibition booklet by great, late, " Old West " artist/sculptor JOE BEELER , on the title page in black ink. Booklet was produced for the " Sedona Arts Center, Inc, in Sedona, Arizona, for a special showing by the artist from March 2 - April 8, 1984. Booklet contains several reproduced photographs of the artists paintings and sculptures in both color & b&w. Booklet also contains a biography of the artist with photos. 32 pages. Measures 11'' x 8 1/2'' tall. FINE CONDITION !! We mailed this item to the artist for signing! Joe Beeler (1931-2006) was an American illustrator, artist and sculptor specializing in the field of Western art . In 1965 , he cofounded the Cowboy Artists of America (CAA) with Charlie Dye , John Hampton and George Phippen .Joe Beeler was a pioneer in contemporary Western art. He was t at the beginning of the tremendous development of that territory in the early 1960s. The key event in Beelerâe(tm)s pioneering activity was the founding, in 1965, of the Cowboy Artists of America. From that association of like-minded people flows a stream of fine art worksâe"making the exhibitions eagerly anticipated and commercially successful.Raised in Oklahoma and Missouri , Beeler received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kansas State Teachers College and continued his studies at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles . His professional career began in illustration at the University of Oklahoma Press in Norman . This gave him the confidence to pursue an artistâe(tm)s career, and collectors were quick to acquire his paintings. The success of his one-man show at the Gilcrease Museum in 1960 established him on a course that would lead to national acclaim and a string of honors and awards. He lived and worked in Sedona, Arizona from 1961 to his death in 2006.Numerous medals and awards have been bestowed on Beelerâe(tm)s work, including gold and silver honors in sculpture, silver in drawing, and an Artistsâe(tm) Choice Award, all from the CAA organization; t arenâe(tm)t many artists who can claim such versatility. In 1994, the Arizona Historic League named him an âeoeArizona History Makerâeâe"an award presented to a very select group of Arizonans. In 1998, Canadaâe(tm)s Cowboy Festival presented âeoeLiving Legends Awardsâe to six individuals in different categories of cowboy culture, and Beeler was the artist honored by the Canadian group.Joe Beeler died Wednesday April 26, 2006.
