I have sold similar 'Rock Icon' collage pieces of other genre/music groups to both galleries as well as private collectors for $2,000. I am/always have been a huge 'Clash' fan and I was inspired to due this for my love of the band, era, and desire to share with another die-hard 'Clash' fan out t Their mixture of punk, reggae, and world music is unlike any other music of the time and any music to come. They have been inspirational in many facets of my life from the music I listen to, to the art I make, the politics I believe in. The art piece itself contains an incredible amount of hand-detail. In the process of mixed-media, it has been embellished to reflect the true spirit of Joe Strummer and his days with The Clash . I was fortunate enough to have experienced and had lived directly in England at that of his career. I used elements to bring to out his unique personalty as I had known and envisioned him. The art itself sits on top of a substrate of MDF board which I have altered to appear as if it's a piece of a building wall., including graffiti, cracked paint, and paint splatters. T is an underline layer of red, gold, and green (rasta colors) which represent the underline layer and influence of Reggae music for Joe and The Clash . All graphic images on this were all hand cut stencils and painted with India ink. Collage Details: The bottom left character is Lee "Scratch" Perry, world famous reggae dub master and ill-fated producer of The Clash. Key dates are represented: the top date is ( 18-3-1977 ) The first Clash single released in UK Bottom right date ( 13-8-1976 ) The Clash was officially formed. "Black Swan' was the first gig The Clash ever played. The swirl above his head is hand-painted lyrics to 'Garageland' Out of his shoulder on left, appears the famous telecaster Joe played throughout his career with the lycrics to "Revolution Rock' hand-written with paint. 'Pepe Unidos' over his chest is a pseudonym used by Joe and The Clash for songwriting and collaborations. It has been coated in a unique Epoxy Resin to give it a permanence and glossy finish. I purposely used a thick n' thin technique to represent the DIY look and attitude of the time period. T are so many details to it and so many hours of embellishing to make this a one-of-a-kind piece of art.If it's not sold , this piece will be going into a gallery showing of my other 'Rock Icon' art. This CAN NOT be reproduced and it is signed!! This piece is left UNFRAMED so that the buyer/collector can display it in any manner they see fit. We can, however have it delivered framed for an additional $50. It is a simple black frame adaptable to any décor. This is legitimate art and I am a legitimate artist working from my own studio.
