John Bageris (1924), Ã,Â"The HorseÃ,Â" original acrylic on paper, abstract. Born in Fremont, Ohio in 1924, John BagerisÃ,Â' has since become one of the premier abstract artists of this century. He earned a BFA at the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from Wayne University. He also spent time studying at the Academy of Fine Art in Munich, Germany. Bageris has had his work exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Detroit Institute of Art, Werbe Gallery in Detroit, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Smithsonian Institute among others. By 1958 he was teaching at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. In 1972 Bageris moved to the Boston area to teach at the Institute of Boston and DeCordova Museum. The work of John Bageris is highly regarded and collected. His paintings are described as abstract and impressionist in style, full of imagination, energy and fluid colors.
