John Deere Quality Farm Equipment Thermometer 1950-1956 Very nice Deere thermometer in Very Good condition, some light rust on back side near adjustable temperature spring and some discoloration at bottom with signs of old mud wasp nest, aluminum rim will sparkle if polished (I will leave that to buyer), glass dome cover is original and in excellant condition, graphics are beautifull, I have taken a couple close ups of the piece to show the nature of the paint shrinkage which is normal for a thermometer of this age (note: you can only see this at very close range wiyh good eyes). Thermometer is 12 inches in diameter and weighs just over 2 pounds. Here is a partial quote from Deere literature in reference to this logo: 1950 - Breakthrough Changes The next official change in the trademark came in 1950 and represented a breakthrough in many respects. First, the antlers of the deer were turned forward, the tail was pointed upward to resemble the white-tailed deer, and no longer was it shown bounding over a log. The words "John Deere," now in a bolder square-serif font, although still arched, were raised to avoid the prior separation by the head and antlers. A new slogan - "Quality Farm Equipment" was set in a bold sans serif typeface and reversed out of the ground beneath the deer. The words " Moline , Ill. " have also been dropped -- a change long overdue due to increasing diversification throughout the world. A surrounding border reappeared -- a four-sided shape with flat sides and curves top and bottom to unify and contain the elements of the trademark.
