This "Colorado Wilderness" 2007 wall calendar is a perfect example of the incredible beauty of JD's beloved Colorado. This beautiful 12" x 12" calendar contains 12 spectacular photos (plus one bonus image) of Colorado's majestic great outdoors and each and every one of them would be perfect for framing. Of special note is the photograph of Snowmass Canyon, which had a particularly special meaning to John since his Windstar Foundation is located in Snowmass. The video clips relating to Colorado are... 1. John in the 1990's sitting on a log, guitar in hand, with the incredible Maroon Bells mountains in the background, talking about his love of Colorado and the mountains. He then talks about his inspiration for writing "Back Home Again" and proceeds to sing it for us. It is a perfect setting for John to sing about being "home." 2. John's great 1980's adventure with the "Durango Mountain Caballeros" as they rode for several days on horseback through the San Juan Mountains of Southwestern Colorado. This was a very memorable experience for John - very exciting and often quite treacherous. And in a concert that followed a year later, he shared his experience with his audience and sang a beautiful song he wrote while on this trip entitled "Durango Mountain Caballeros." This beautiful song has rarely been heard, and it is quite a joy to watch and hear John perform it 3. The next video clip relating to the same "Durango Mountain" adventure is John's story of how during this trip, he learned "The Lord's Prayer" in Native American Indian sign language. This clip includes John's story and his beautiful (and sometimes humorous!) performance of the Lord's Prayer. It is a special pleasure to watch because John not only "signs," he also explains each movement, so the viewer can really appreciate the meaning. 4. John riding horseback on his property ("Starwood") in Aspen. He then proceeds to sing "Rocky Mountain High" outdoors beside a rushing river. Incredible scenery and music. 5. John singing "For You" to his second wife Cassandra while outdoors in Aspen. 6. Next is a television interview one year after John's passing, in which his first wife Annie visits a park in Aspen dedicated to John. Annie speaks of her feelings of sorrow, and talks about John's life in the last few months before he passed away. This is a very touching interview and clips of John performing outdoors in Aspen are also shown. 7. Part 1 of John flying his airplane high above the Rocky Mountains alongside a magnificent soaring eagle to the music of John's very meaningful song, "On the Wings of an Eagle." 8. Part 2, when John lands the plane, "Phoenix," the Golden Eagle, joins him as John talks about the importance of eagle conservation. This is a wonderful way to experience the joy that the beauty of Colorado brought to John for many years of his life.
