For political aficionados, Boston historical collectors, collectors of President John F. Kennedy memorabilia, history buffs, and political pin / pin-back collectors, here's one you don't want to miss. This circa 1906 pinback advertises John Francis Fitzgerald for Mayor of Boston. He won the 1906 election and served as mayor from 1906 - 1908. During this time he earned the nickname Honey Fitz. Mr. Fitzgerald was the maternal grandfather of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and Senators Robert (Bobby) and Edward Kennedy. Mayor Fitzgerald was an avid fan and supporter of Boston's American League Baseball Team (now the Red Sox). He was re-elected mayor in 1910 and served through 1914. The pin measures 1" in diameter, and is complete with the paper backing on the reverse side. There is a little staining on the pin and one small tear of the celluloid or plastic cover on the back. The photos show the condition. All in all this is a very rare piece of historical and political memorabilia, particularly Boston memorabilia, and it deserves a good home on the top row of a political pin back or political button collection. All questions answered as quickly as possible, but please don't wait until the last day of the auction to ask. The sooner you ask, the more time we have to provide a more exact answer.
