1961 JFK Democratic National Committee
DNC Cuff Links and Tiepin On offer: A Boxed pair of metal cuff links and a tie clip with the ¾" wide circular logo of the DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE on the front of each. Purchased from the estate of Samuel C. Brightman. Issued during, or before the John F. Kennedy administration. Stamped on the bottom of the bar of the cufflinks is the Patent number: 2,974,381 [According the the U.S. Patent Office website, the patent was filed for "the cuff-link action" in 1956 and granted in 1961]. The Brightman family indicated that these sets were given out at the Democratic National Convention in 1960, but that has not been confirmed as a fact. Condition: Although these have never been used, they have a tiny bit of tarnishing, but seem to be ok otherwise. Set comes in original plastic box. Samuel Charles Brightman was a former associate director of the Democratic National Committee, a newspaperman, magazine editor and consultant. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his service during the D-Day landings in Normandy on June 6, 1944. In 1947, he joined the DNC as a public relations official. He became associate director for publicity in 1956 and continued in that job until 1965. Thus, a nice set cufflinks from the JFK era with the Democratic National Committee (DNC) logo on each piece. High bidder pays $4.00 USPS S&H in the U.S. International air more expensive, generally $10.00 (uninsured). Please email for a rate quote for your location. Credit cards accepted.
