John John Leach’s Muchelney Pottery “ ShotPots ” A pair consisting of both versions. Coined by me, the name shotpot has stuck. A super piece of studio pottery, probably one of the nicest, characterful and simple pieces produced at Muchelney. Not available in the standardware range but produced in limited quantities and formerly released, twice a year, to a growing fan club. Now discontinued. Wheel thrown stoneware, probably by Nick Rees who is responsible for the main production work. One is the rounded form which replaced the earlier trumpet form. Coated with a superb ash glaze with with additional fly ash and toasting. Wood fired. Both approx. 6.7cms high with a 6.4cms rim diameters. Signed to the bases with the [ MUCHELNEY ] impressed mark. Delightful pots, ideal for the collector but not so costly that they cannot be used. Johnnie puts Somerset Brandy in his! Please scroll to the end of the listing for additional photographs.
