John A O ya Hawaii Monkey Wood Vtg Perfume Bottle & Heron $29.99I bought these two items together. The heron is not marked but is hand carved and appears to be the same wood as the John Hoya perfume bottle. The heron has red beads for eyes, they appear to be beads that could be sewn on to something. Even with the magnifying glass I cannot tell if it is black paint or a small hole. The heron has what appears to be a tiny chip at the edge of one of the leaves but I do not think it is an actual chip. I think it was carved that way and then stained. Please check pictures and you will see what I mean.The perfume bottle is clearly marked monkey pod wood, hand carved and has a patent number D112784 on the bottom. The bottle is quite lovely, clearly hawaiian vintage. It is only carved on the one side and finished on the other. It has a wonderful patina. The glass bottle has a carved wooden stopper and the label reads "ginger, John A Oya, Honolulu." A second label says "1/4 fluid oz, 2 drams."The heron measures 12" tall and sits on a base 3" x 2 3/4'. The perfume bottle is 4" tall, 1 3/8" deep and 3 3/8" wide. They look quite lovely together.
