A lithographic print by John Piper of a view of Windsor Castle from Prince Henry's Gate - no. 3 in a series produced by Penguin Prints in 1948. The original "takes" were water-colours (twenty-four in number) executed by Piper in 1941-2 for Elizabeth, the Queen Consort, who was an admirer of his work. This particular print is signed in the plate by the artist (bottom r.h. corner) and features as no. 67 in Orde Levinson's book , Quality and Experiment (p.58). The print is in excellent condition under the glass and has a high-quality double mount and sympathetic frame (52 cm by 43). The image size is 35 cm by 25, and it is in every way a very pleasing work of art. Unlike some of the Piper prints for sale on Ebay, this is not a recycled book illustration , but a genuine lithograph. It would carry quite a high price if purchased from a specialist gallery .
