John Polhamus was a silversmith in New York from 1833-1874. He created items for Tiffany and Co. in the 1840's and worked with Henry Hebbard for a few years from 1852-1858. George Shiebler bought his flatware dies in 1874. This tablespoon has the monogram G.S. on handle. Could this be for George Shiebler himself ? Very lovely design incorporating a shell like pattern on top of handle; front and back! It also has another design a little lower down as can be seen in photo; also front and back. A shell pattern is also viewable on back base of bowl portion. Very good condition and good weight! There is just one very small tarnished spot on spoon portion. It is small! Marked on back side of handle; J*P... J. POLHAMUS... STERLING! I Stand behind all items and their descriptions!
