This is a large 15" by 19.75" platter by Johnson Bros. that is the maker's craft at its best. The platter is part of the Historic America series and features a charming vignette titled "Home for Thanksgiving". Come November this platter would be a great addition to your holiday table. The platter is in very good condition and looks as if it was never or hardly used. The colors are bright, the decoration is complete, and t are few if any utensil marks. The scene pictured is that of a 1800's country farm with barn, oxen, horse and arriving guests at the farm house. In the foreground is a turkey. Hmmm...I wonder if that turkey is destined for the holiday table...? The plate is mutli-colored on a brown base color scheme. The use of red and blue glazes provides additional visual interest to the piece. At the border of the plate is an attractive oak leave and acorn pattern. T are no cracks or chips.
