"Great Tree" Woodblock with Gold Leaf Signed in Pencil by Joichi Hoshi and red stamped, 1975. Joichi Hoshi, Japanese Artist (1913-1979), was famous for his artwork which portrayed his fascination with nature and especially the subject of trees. The original print has a unique frame with glass by the Kanda's Gallery of Tokyo, Japan. The print measures 6" X 8" with the actual woodblock art area 7 1/4" X 4 7/8" and the wood frame measures 10" X 12".This print is in very good, crisp condition with a small stain at the borders edge at the bottom right hand side beneath the signature. This can sometimes occur when the glass is cleaned and the cleaning solution is allowed to seep under the glass. There are no other stains or flaws to border. The woodblock print and the signature are pristine with no flaws. The greenish gray, wood outer frame has some small nicks and the inner gold leafed, wood frame has some loss to the gold coloring.
