JOINTER GAGE, GOODELL-PRATT, SHEPARDSON PATENT I will be listing over the next few weeks the world's largest collection of patented jointer gages, you know the device that clamps to the side of a plane to allow it to cut precise angles. Of course, as soon as one makes a claim such as this a closet collector comes out that claims that he, his dad, his granddad and his great granddad have been collecting these things for 150 years and have 9 thousand different models all new in the box. However, until that happens I will stick to my guns that this collection coming up is the largest. I now have 18 different models, some rare, some common but all different ( I did have 21 but 3 are gone). I will list them all , one by one in no particular order, till they are all sold. I will not sell any ahead of time. Buy them all and then you can claim to have the worlds largest collection. Be the envy of all your friends. I am leaving town for a few days as this item bids. I may or may not have access to a computer. If you go ahead and pay I will get this item in the mail on Tuesday morning, Feb 12. If you want to wait to pay that is ok also. Hope this does not inconvenience anyone.---Don This is a Goodell-Pratt Shepardson's patented iron plane gage. Goodell-Pratt was a manufacturing company operating out of Greenfield, Mass. from 1900 to 1931 when they merged with the Miller Falls Co.. The Goodell-Pratt company succeeded The Goodell Brothers Co in 1900. Gage was patented by Edward Shepardson of Greenfield, Mass on July 26, 1887 #367071. Jointer fence is 7 3/4" long and is nickel plated cast iron and will adjust to various angles. .. The body of this gauge is also nickel plated cast iron. Fence attaches to the side of iron planes by two thumbscrews. On the edge of the fence is inscribed "GOODELL-PRATT COMPANY GREENFIELD MASS U.S.A.".This gage is in nice shape and is complete and functional. About 95% of the nickel plating remains. Frequently missing, but present on this gage is the small thumbscrew actuated center sliding section. A nice looking gage. My E-Bay philosophy is simple, you are the customer and you decide how you want to handle the deal. I will go along with most anything as long as it is not too outrageous and you keep me informed. If it will be a few days before you get payment to me, no problem, just let me know so I will not worry about it being lost. I do not have any hard and fast time lines on what happens when. Normally I will get the package to the PO the day after I receive payment. If for some reason that will be delayed, I will let you know.As usual, you pay the shipping, insurance extra if desired. I personally recommend insurance if the item cost more than around $50, but you decide. On most items I sell, I try to estimate the postage cost by USPS Priority Mail (my shipping method) and include that up front so you know exactly what the cost of the item will be. I'm usually within a couple of dollars of the correct cost depending on your zip code. Unless it is too heavy or too large I ship everything, everyw by USPS priority mail. Never any crazy handling fees or ridiculous reserves.PayPal, money orders or checks accepted. Please allow a few days for checks if it is an expensive item. On most items I ship right away. So far all (well, most) of my dealings have been with nice, honest people. (As I would expect) . I always leave feedback up front, right after you have paid. Some vendors never leave feedback first, they wait till you have left it, that way if you leave bad feedback they can retaliate. I have talked with E-bay about this problem but they always duck the issue. Anyway, I always leave feedback first because I know t will be no problem with my items (or on the rare occasion t is, I will immediately resolve the problem). My satisfaction policy is also very simple, you are the customer and you decide if you want the item. Satisfaction guaranteed, no exception. Purchase may be returned for any reason or no rea...
