This darling little lady is "Hungary" from the Josef Originals "Little Internationals" Series. She is pictured on page 37 in the pink book, "Josef Originals, Charming Figurines". This is one of the rarer ones and quite hard to find, especially in such pristine condition as this one is! Hungary has her hands on her waist and is dancing a folk dance. One foot, clad in a golden shoe, is kicking up in the air from beneath her skirt and petticoats. The colors in her outfit are very pretty. The bottom layer skirt is pink and over that she is wearing a layered pinafore. The bottom layer is white ruffled, then comes a blue layer adorned with pink flowers and 22 Kt. gold spaghetti trim. On top of that is a white layer with pink polka dots. The top layer goes over her shoulders and back in a V-shape with ruffles and there is a huge white bow at her back. All of this is accented with gold detailing. She is wearing a light blue scarf with ties under the neck that also has shiny gold detailing. Curly brunette hair peeks out from the scarf. Her face is expertly hand-painted with rosy cheeks, black eyes & lashes, delicate eyebrows and a cherry red mouth. She is truly beautiful! Hungary is in excellent, near MINT, vintage condition! I can find no damage on her all. She has a couple small factory flaws, a couple specks of gold paint on the back of her arm and a slight paint rub on the front at the bottom of her apron. Besides these two things she is perfect. "Josef Originals C (with a circle around it)" is clearly inscribed in the clay in the bottom of the piece. She is approximately 3 1/2" tall and 3" wide and has a glossy glaze. Her colors are rich and vibrant and the glaze and gold gilt are bright and shiny. She is a very lovely and well-cared for piece! Most all of my items are vintage, which means they have been pre-owned and many are quite old. My home is smoke-free, but I cannot say where the items have been before I got them. I try to accurately describe any flaws I see, but I am human and may miss something, so please enlarge my photos and look closely at them.
