Josef Zenisek (Czech, 1855-1944)-19th c Oil on board, portrait of a beautiful woman by Josef Zenisek, listed artist- Signed to the upper right corner. Superb composition and well executed portrait. The portrait measures 6 5/8 inches tall by 4 5/8 inches wide. The frame is 12 1/2 inches tall by 10 1/2 inches wide. Mounted in its period, original gilt wood frame. Biography: Josef Zenisek was a well-known Czech artist who worked at the turn of the 20th century. He was a pupil of K.Lhot at the Prague Academy of Arts; studied at the Academies in Munich, Paris and Rome as well and took part in various exhibitions. Condition: The painting remains in excellent condition with minor and insignificant loss. Frame is a carved gilt wood, ornate frame with loss and chips, consistant with age.
