Item: "Sun God" pin Matte Gold Finish with diamond like dangle eyes. Signed Joseff History of Joseff Hollywood Eugene Joseff of "Joseff of Hollywood" was the premier jewelry designer of the 1930's and 1940's to a majority of the Hollywood films of that era. He worked closely with Walter Plunckett the famous clothing and wardrobe designer to create jewelry that fit the films time period. Joseff made pieces that photographed well, using a gold matte finish, known as Russian gold, developed to minimized the glare from studio lights. The finest rhinestones were imported from Czechoslovakia and Austria. Majority of his designs are stamped with"Joseff of Hollywood" or "Joseff". Every piece you saw adorning a beautiful movie star was only leased to the studios and is still owned today by Joseff of Hollywood. Joseffs library hoses over 3 million pieces. His jewelry was in so many famous classics like Gone with the Wind (Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh) Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor), Sinbad the Sailor (Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Anthony Quinn) Camille (Greta Garbo) Mary of Scotland (Katherine Hepburn), Marie Antoinette (Norma Shearer) Shanghai Express (Marlene Dietrich) The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Maureen O'Hara) Prisoner of Zenda (Ronald Coleman), Algiers (Hedy Lamarr) Ziegfeld Follies (Judy Garland, Lucille Ball,Fred Astaire) The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex (Bette Davis) The Three Musketeers (Angela Lansbury, Lana Turner)... just to name a few...
