You are bidding on a 6/8" Joseph Elliot vintage straight razor manufactured in Sheffield, England. This razor dates in the mid 1800s. The razor has been restored using greaseless compounds and other buffing compounds. I have shaved with it for the past few months, it was one of my razors in my rotation. I removed a lot of active rust and pitting from the blade, but, a few minor pits remain on this blade. It is NOT a flawless mirror finish.I have made a new set of horn scales for this razor. I hand make my scales using real buffalo horn blanks. the wedge is made from a piece of translucent horn, and is securely epoxied between the two scales. It should never come apart. The hardware on the pivot pin is a threaded 3/32 barrel & torx screws on both sides. Very clean and modern twist to an otherwise antique razor! I custom make each set of scales to match each razor I rescale - no two sets are alike. I have been doing re-scales for more than a year now. I guarantee you to enjoy these scales. They are simply beautiful!!I am a detail oriented restorer and scalemaker.. I ensure that the razors are tight, close centered, and have nearly flawless finishes on the scales. This horn has been sanded /shaped from 80 grit all the way to 1500 grit, and then buffed using rouges on loose cotton wheels to create mirror-like finishes on the horn. This read more
