Joseph Story Hall of Fame for Great Americans Medal, 1964 . Hall of Fame for Great Americans at New York University. Bronze, 76mm. By Nathaniel Choate. Obverse : Portrait of Justice Joseph Story, great American lawyer, jurist and Supreme Court Justice also known for his Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States . Reverse : Story in the robes of a Justice in a field of stars; surrounded by ribbon with the names of other Supreme Court Justices. Struck by the Medallic Art Company, New York. Condition : Slight mottling, some small black spots; ABOUT UNCIRCULATED.
The Hall of Fame for Great Americans at New York University was establishedin 1900. Bronze portrait busts of the honorees were commissioned and placed in an open-aircolonnade, and starting in 1962 medals, struck by the Medallic Art Company, were issued to honor the inductees. The series was discontinued in 1975 with 94 medals having been issued.
