This is a rare February 4th, 1963 playbill from the Pre-Broadway engagement of the MARY RODGERS and MARTIN CHARNIN musical comedy flop "HOT SPOT" at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. (The production would open April 19th, 1963 at the Majestic Theatre in New York City and close after only 43 performances.) ..... The musical starred the legendary JUDY HOLLIDAY (shown in the cover photo), creating her second and last musical stage role as Peace Corp teacher "Sally Hopwinder" and featured JOSEPH CAMPANELLA, JOSEPH BOVA, HOWARD FREEMAN, ARNY FREEMAN, MARY LOUISE WILSON, BUZZ MILLER, GEORGE FURTH, JAMES CRESSON, CONRAD BAIN, SHEILA SMITH, CHARLES BRASWELL, GERALD TEIJELO, JAMES MOORE, JOHN CUNNINGHAM and CARMEN DeLAVALLADE ..... For JUDY HOLLIDAY, it was a sad finale to a potentially great musical theatre career. She was diagnosed with cancer of the throat immediately after the closing of "Hot Spot" and passed away two years later .....
