For sale in this auction is a very large and well-made, old, and authentic coiled basket displaying a Kachina pattern on all four sides, interlocking with four diamonds that surround them. Photos 1 and 2 and the top and bottom views; photos 3 - 10 are consecutive views of the sides at consecutive 22 degree turns of the basket. The size is fourteen inches by seven and one half inches deep, and the date of origin is about 1880-1920. The condition is very good with a warm honey patina and only some missing or broken stitches and no damage to the structure or integrity of the basket. The bottom has been reinforced by additional stitches across the coils. The coils are tightly bound as are the wrappings of yucca leaves. The variations in color of the photos results from differing levels of and differing combinations of natural and articifical light. The more golden ones are in sunlight, and the lighter ones have artificial lighting mixed in to highlight the details in the weaving. This is a very collectible and very rare deep Hopi basket that is being offered at about half its market value. I hope you like is as much as I have. Thank you for visiting my auctions and good luck to you in all your bidding. bdr
