I am listing a reproduction automaton/mechanical Jumeau Mandolin Player.I made this doll in a seminar to study how to reproduce the French antique piece from the 1890's. We were allowed to use the most authentic materials for the reproduction work; she was painted under the instructor's guidance. The head is from a Tete Jumeau. The doll has a light blonde mohair wig, blue paperweight eyes, porcelain hands (arms - under the sleeves are wires conneticting to the musical movement mechanism), composition legs with silk socks and leather shoes. Her costume patterns were reproduced from an antique Jumeau mandolin player doll. Every material is very gorgeous! She is sitting on a stool crossing her legs and putting the mandolin on her lap. When you turn the key wind on her back, she starts playing the mandolin turning her head. The mechanism is totally manual. It is not battery/electric operated. The music and movement(head and one arm) starts and last for a few minutes when you wind the key. The music plays "Swan Lake." Please be careful not to wind the key too much or it will break the wind - this is the same as those wind key toys in the pastime. She is about 17" (43.2cm) tall in a sitting position from the top of the head (without the hat) to the bottom of the wood base covered with a velour fabric. I list this as used because the doll read more
