POGLEPIE'SWINTER WONDERLAND OF BOOKS & COLLECTABLES This is an original issue of " The Guide " magazine - the official magazine of " The Girl Guides Association ". It is dated June 1st 1939 and is Vol. XIX No. 8. 32 pages. Scarce item as many of these pre-wartime issues were sent for salvage during World War Two, and as is often the case, the quality of these pre-war issues is superior to the post war issues. This issue has all the usual general guiding news from Great Britain and the rest of the world, as well as some excellent articles and stories including the following: "The Golden Calf" - short story by Mary Norton who wrote The Borrowers books and Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Taking care of your Bicycle, Guide Jo - Stowaway - serial by E. B. Fawssett & H. B. Davidson, Starling Treasure - short story by Primrose Cumming, Camping Out with Guides and some pretty illustrations throughout. Attractive cover design initialled L. C.
