This is a limited edition hardcover book, part of the Signed Modern Classics collection, signed by Mickey Spillane. As with all of my books I have put up for auction, they are part of my private collection. I remember years ago getting a brochure from Easton Press advertising their Science Fiction collection. Some time after that I picked up the phone and began an almost twenty year relationship with Easton Press . I began by subscribing to that same Science Fiction collection and soon jumped into signed editions of various sorts. With very few exceptions, all of my Easton Press books were brought directly from the publisher. They are all marvelous to hold and read. They are bound in the finest leather, printed on acid-free paper stock, Smythe-sewn binding, come with an attached ribbon marker, and are just beautifully designed. They have always been well-kept on my bookcases, kept away from sunlight, and dusted regularly. Over the years I have become aware that the signed editions of Easton Press are certainly produced in smaller quantities than the Franklin Library (and even the Limited Editions Club ). For example, I once had a conversation with a sales representative at Easton Press and he indicated to me that editions like the Signed Modern Classics were signed in groups of one thousand. He also indicated that it was not often books were popular enough to warrant a second signing of a thousand. I suspect this number is also true of the Signed Collector Editions. Of course, the Signed First Editions have varied from as little as 750 to as high as 3,000 (that I have seen). Note: I did attach bookplates in the backs of most of the books I purchased. It is a very discreet placement. Any book that I am putting up for sale, I have whited out my signature on that bookplate and attached a new bookplate on top of it. I have included photos so you can see my ownership is no longer evident. This comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and an Editor's Note. There is some very slight fading to the gilt on the top, bottom and side long with some very small scratches (see photos 10 & 11) I am not a book dealer, but as an amateur, I would say the book is in Fine condition.
