JW PANKHURST WHITE IRONSTONE COVERED BUTTER/PANCAKE DISH, 1850's Description You are bidding on this JW Pankhurst (Hanley, England) white ironstone covered dish made in the 1850's. Gothic finial and paneled shape. The purpose of this piece is a mystery. There is a drainage piece for moisture, so one would assume it is for butter, cheese, or pancakes. Two small nicks on the back rim of the bowl. Toning in the bottom of the holding bowl. I do not believe the drain is original to the piece. Dimensions: 4 1/4" high x 7" diameter
