Nice K98 German Combat bayonet with scabbard of Matching serial numbers and Maker. Dated 1940 This matching set includes a bayonet which has Not been sharpened and still has 70% blueing on the blade. The serial number on the blade front is 5156 with a lower case "a" underneath, the same appears on the scabbard. The Maker mark on the opposite side of the blade is Clemen & Jung, the same is on the scabbard. T is a "40" on the knife spline, and the scabbard has "1940" under the Maker name. Push button works well and has one waffenampt. Handle has two waffenampts. Nice black bakelite handles in good condition but having a chip on the button side and about 6 small nicks on the opposite side, none of which really stand out from the overal impressive nature of the bayonet. The flashgaurd was used to hammer something at sometime, not uncommon as they were not issued hammers, see pictures. Not much finish left on the scabbard, it rusted a little once but that was stopped with oiling. It feels smooth to the touch and has all its parts and is dent free. Lets remember this is a war veteran and was issued and is thus used. Overall this is a nice K98 German combat bayonet with matching scabbard set. This would make a nice addition to any collection. 100% Garranteed Original WW2 German with return right on originallity. I will ship to read more
