Up for auction is a KABAR UNION CUTLERY knife hatchet combo set with the interchangeable mechanism. The set is from the 1930's thru 40's. The knife and hatchet are both marked as picture show. The length of the knife with the handle is 9.0" long, with the hatchet is 12.0" long. The knife and hatchet fit perfectly in the handle but t is some wobble for both the knife and hatchet. The blades have been professionally cleaned, and the edges are sharp as a razor with no dings or nicks. Overall the set is in fair to good condition. The blades do have some pitting on them but as pictures show have good steel remaining. Kabar - Union Cutlery made a quality products especially in that era. The wood handles are in good c ondition. No separation along the steel structure, or cracks at the pins. See pictures- unfortunately the pictures make the knife look better than what it is . The sheath is in fair condition, the snap has been replaced and one rivet is missing-plus t is a cut on the blade side.. The Original Union Cutlery Ka-bar sheath does it job and is structually sound but is only rated fair condition.. The leather in is pretty good condition with all the stitching in place.
