Description
This attractive antique Chinese export porcelain saucer is finely decorated with three flower sprays surrounding a pomegranate. The rim is decorated with a narrow band of flower cartouches reserved on an ornamental ground. The entire decoration is executed in Iron Red and Gilt, also referred to as "Rouge de Fer". This style of decoration is typical for the reign of the Chinese emperor Kangxi (1662-1722). The reverse of the saucer is covered with a glossy brown glaze, which is typical for the so-called Batavia wares. The diameter of the saucer is 4 inches (10.1 cm).
Age
Kangxi, ca. 1720. Guaranteed over 250 years old.
Condition
Excellent, with a small firing flaw to the rim as well as some rubbing to the enameled highlights.
