Up for auction is a fabulous, finely colored pair of porcelain sulphur-crested cockatoos made by master German Volkstedt/Thüringia manufacturer Karl Ens. Both birds are white with yellow crests and orange cheeks. The position of the crest on each bird is different, as are the stances of each bird on their respective branches, so the birds are more like a "couple" or best friends than identical twins. These very special birds are simply a delight to behold. The friendly and intelligent expressions on their faces and incredible detailing in the feathers make them amazingly lifelike. Both cockatoos are in mint condition, with no known nicks, chips, cracks, or restorations. The first bird measures 14.5 inches (37cm) tall, 7 inches (18cm) deep, and 5 inches (12.5cm) wide. The second bird is 13.5 inches (34.5cm) tall, 6 inches (15cm) deep, and 5 inches (12.5cm) wide. Both birds bear the green ENS flag backstamp on the bottom. The Porzellanfabrik Karl Ens was founded in 1890 and existed until 1972. Later, the Ens line of figurines began to be produced again in Thüringia, Germany, using the old Ens factory molds. The Ens line of parrots and birds is absolutely breathtaking, and belongs in the top echelon of quality and beauty along with Meissen and Rosenthal. Please note that full shipping insurance is mandatory on this purchase, and this item will be shipped by Fedex ground only (no USPS) within the U.S. The birds will be professionally packed and shipped to minimize the chance of breakage. The packing service I use adds about $15 to the shipping cost for these fragile items (this is already factored into the eBay shipping calculator). I add no markup or handling fee on my end. Please do not bid unless you agree to these terms. I offer a full 7-day 100% money back guarantee if the item should arrive damaged or is in any other way unsatisfactory. Happy bidding!
