Hand carved from 100-year-old mountain cherry trees, the wood used to make this cookie mold is dried for five years to prevent cracking. Mixtures of sugar and soy flour are pressed into the mold, allowed to dry and served in the Japanese Tea Ceremony. The peony is known in Japan as the "king of flowers". It also symbolizes wealth, prosperity and honor. This two piece mold dates to the late Taisho Era (c. 1925) and measures 8" by 4 3/4" by 1 1/2" thick. This mold is in perfect condition with no chips, check dings or any sign of wear. Congratulations! It could be yours!
