Katabori Ivory Netsuke Man & Baby with Rope Antique 1800s

Please note that this piece is made from pre-ban non-marine mammal ivory and was legally imported into the U.S. before the CITES ban.

I was able to purchase a collection of Antique Ivory Netsuke's recently from an Estate Sale. I will be list many of them over the next few weeks. All are hand carved ivory and signed. I do not know very much about Netsuke's but I will describe them to the best of my ability.

These are genuine Antique real Netsuke NOT REPRODUCTIONS!!! This piece dates from the 1800s.

This Netsuke depicts a strong character holding his beautiful baby. He has such a proud expression as his offspring smiles sweetly. He also holds a rope draped over his soldier. And attached to a vessel at his feet. He adorns a wonderful mustache and beard. The Ivory figure has extremely well detailed little carvings. It is very finely made and shows excellent craftsmanship. It feels very comfortable and interesting, in the hand. T are NO sharp points. They stand just over 2" tall. Their dress has many fine details and even the babies garb is ornately detailed. This piece is very powerfully carved and so full of character. It contains superb detail and outstanding sculptural quality. Even their eyebrows have extreme detail!!!
This netsuke has two linked holes on the back with a smooth curved link to thread the cord through. It is solid and NOT hollow. It is signed on the bottom. The condition is exceptional, no damage at all!!! This is museum quality.
