You are bidding on an old ship's clock and barometer/ thermometer. Both of them are brass mounted on a beautiful molded walnut board, which is attached to very thick pine boards. The estate that I got this from said that that they got it off a boat. This must account for the thick pine boards. The brass is aged and has a fantastic antique nautical look.
I believe that the clock is made by the very prestigious Chelsea clock company. At the top, it is marked Chelsea. The center is marked, "Kelvin & Wilfrid O. White Co. Boston New York". This could be the company that sold the clock. The Barometer/ Thermometer is marked "Made in France" and has the initials "PHBN" inside a circle, which I believe is the Naudet-Pertuis-Hulot-Barometers company. The clock has been keeping excellent time. I wound the clock slightly and since then it has been keeping very close time. I have photographed the key that came with the clock. I did not adjust the speed, you can do so with the "Fast and Slow" calibrator to the left of the second hand ( located at the top ). The brass and glass are in almost perfect shape. T is slight wear to the letters on the maker's name and also a small pitting above the "4", please see the close up photos. You can see that this minor blemishes are not very noticeable and do not take away from the piece. To wind the clock, you unscrew the face plate. The threads are tight and goes on very smoothly, so it appears that the threads are not cross threaded. The clock face measures approx. 5 1/2" in diam. at the top, approx. 5 1/2" at base and the hight is approx. 2 3/4" high. The barometer measures the same size and looks to be working. The over all condition of these two items are great. A few areas on the brass have been scuffed, I will photograph these areas so you can get an accurate description. These areas are very minimal and does not distract from the elegance or the over all look. This item is very heavy and I would suggest insurance on this item when shipping. I will double box this item to help protect it during shipping. I accept money orders and pay pal and I will leave it up to you how this item will ship. the serial number on the clock is 214916
